LOCATION
The Chillhouse is a traditional retreat situated in Canggu amongst the rice fields on the southern shores of Bali, offering guest’s quality accommodation and delicious organic meals, along with surf guiding, massage treatments and yoga sessions.
Situated about 8 kilometers North of the busy tourist center Kuta/Legian it is just a five minutes ride to the ocean! Ride down by bike, car, complimentary beach cruisers or our daily beach shuttle, chill out at relaxed bars and restaurants or surf a number of quality waves that suit all surfing levels and work at almost all tides and swells.
We love living in the countryside, because we have the solitude and rural vibe that we always love to come back to. We can choose to go to town for shopping or party, rather than the other way around! Canggu is the most uprising part of Bali and we are right here. Infrastructure is good, you’ll get what you’ll need and you’ll love being far from the hassle of town.

Our teachers, coaches and guides are all well English-spoken locals. They have undergone intense training and experienced a great variety of guests. Having earned their respect in the water over the years and having gained experience in the immense variety of Bali’s waves over the course of their lives, they are here for you.
With the help and combination of experience, modern-day surf forecasting, tide charts, factual assessment of your surfing skills, physical strength, individual fear-level and personal goals, it is our aim to make sure you surf heaps of good waves in the beautiful warm Indian Ocean during your relatively short stay on Bali.
As crowds have become an issue, if conditions allow, we will be taking you to places not too many surfers know about.
Surfcoaching
Surfcoaching means assessing your skills, seeing how long you will be with us, making a plan to make sure we are working on the same goals, and taking it all to the water.
Our teachers, guides and coaches are trained according to the ISA (International Surfing Association) curriculum and guidelines, and we will try hard to push your surfing level, no matter where you are at.
We have been working hard on the education of our team. Every person is different, has individual ways of learning, and this means that our way of teaching and coaching is customized to your personality. Video-coaching (if conditions allow) as a reality check is a great aid to make you aware of what you are doing and you will feel and see your progress as you are riding the Indian Ocean.
Beginner teaching
The best way to get started is in a safe and easy environment. In our vicinity there are several beaches with most suitable conditions for novices, and that means sand bottom: shallow enough to stand, no rocks to get hurt, waves small enough not to get scared, and white water strong enough to get you going. All that with sea temperatures ranging from 26 to 30 degrees Celsius! How good is that?
Our ISA (International Surfing Association) certified surf instructors take care of you and make sure you get started the best way, teaching you the right technique from day one and correcting you when it is necessary. We have adapted the ISA curriculum to the great conditions here on Bali, allowing us to progress at good pace while maintaining the key points of teaching. Video coaching is a valuable aid to make sure you are ready for the next steps and getting stoked on your first green waves!
