Togat Nusa Retreat is situated on the small island of Pitojat, in the Mentawai Islands, just off the North West corner of Sipora Island and 80km from mainland Sumatra, Indonesia. It is an island paradise by any definition, featuring white sand beaches, a brilliant turquoise lagoon and a lush, tropical rainforest that's filled with the most amazing flora and fauna, like wild orchids, climbing vines, monitor lizards and an abundance of bird species.
Then there are the waves, which are as inspiring as the scenery. Scarecrows, a long left hand wave that breaks in front of Togat Nusa, along the curved coral reef, as well as dozens of other world class waves, create amazing opportunities for surfers to catch the best waves of their lives.
Thoughtfully designed and operated, Togat Nusa Retreat perfectly balances the organic qualities of island life with the comforts that travelers appreciate. Locally engaged employees, along with a western manager and surf guide, and locally sourced food and other resources all add to the harmony and balance found at Togat Nusa Retreat.
Three traditionally inspired Bungalows, each uniquely designed in a style the compliments the main building, have been crafted using recycled timbers and driftwood. Each bungalow is setup to accommodate 2 people (unless already organized), for a total of just 6 guests on the island at any one time. Private bathrooms with hot running water, well appointed cooling fans, a funky interior design, including handmade custom furniture and antique lighting fixtures left over from Dutch fishing vessels, and an eco-friendly approach, together create a sense of comfort, space and interest.
